About Elizabeth 

Weyers Music Studio was founded by Executive Director Elizabeth Weyers. Elizabeth has over 6 years of teaching experience and over 15 years of piano and mixed music education. Elizabeth is a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where she received her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Writing and her Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication in Public Relations and Magazine Media. At Drake University she also received additional piano education with highly regarded piano instructors and participated in many studio workshops and music jury performances.

Elizabeth has over five years of working experience in the events and performing arts industry. Elizabeth has worked with Des Moines Performing Arts, shadowing production and Broadway cast, crew, and other personnel, and remains employed through the Des Moines Performing Arts Civic Center as Hospitality Supervisor. She worked with the Greater Des Moines Partnership as a Downtown Events Ambassador, The Downtown Farmers Market, and with Hoyt Sherman Place. Elizabeth has also worked on events through the Jefferson Matters Main Street and Chamber in Jefferson, Iowa, and has served as an event manager in Drake University's fine arts department where she worked closely with the Heartland Youth Choir, Civic Music Association, Des Moines Youth Symphony, and NPR/IPR.  

She has performed piano at various competitions including solo ensembles and Jazz competitions. In 2015 and 2016 Elizabeth performed at the Iowa State Fair where she had solo piano performances of the Theme from the Piano Concerto in A Minor by Edvard Grieg and Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty Waltz. In 2019 Elizabeth was invited by the Perry, IA Chamber of Commerce to be a judge for the Bill Riley Talent Search.

Outside of music, Elizabeth has worked as Community Relations and Marketing Coordinator at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson Iowa, and currently serves as a Marketing Communications Specialist at UnityPoint Health - Des Moines and is a member of the IHA Society of Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations (ISHMPR).
