Addison has two years of teaching experience and five years of voice and piano education. Addison is a recent graduate from the University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. At the University of Northern Iowa, Addison received voice and piano lessons from highly regarded professionals.

 

While at the University of Northern Iowa, Addison performed in multiple opera productions in a lead, ensemble, and featured dancing roles. Addison was also a member of three choral ensembles that performed locally as well as internationally. While at the University of Northern Iowa, Addison held many leadership roles that furthered her knowledge in music education.

 

Addison was an active member of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority for four years where she was the Director of Music Education. In college Addison also served as a Music Director for Spectrum Project, an organization at the University of Northern Iowa that involves students on the autism spectrum from ages 5-20 be involved in fine arts and performance. Addison also was an active member of the University of Northern Iowa’s American Choral Directors Association chapter for two years. Addison has had multiple roles as an educator.

 

Addison currently is a first-year elementary music teacher at Jackson Elementary School in Des Moines Public School District. As a music teacher, Addison creates varied lesson activities that involve cognitive, aural, and kinesthetic learning. In the music classroom, Addison loves getting her students involved in music by playing instruments, singing, and dancing. Addison has also assisted in hosting numerous elementary school concerts where her students are able to demonstrate what they learn in the music room to an audience.

 

Outside of music Addison enjoys spending time with her family and friends in the Des Moines area. Some of Addison’s favorite hobbies include making jewelry, writing, golfing, and playing with her two cats, Calliope and Caduceus
